Young Professionals Committee

Reports To: Administrative and Policy Council

Mission Statement: The mission of the Connecticut AWWA Young Professionals Committee (YPC) is to bridge the gap between water professionals at all stages in their career through the development of programs, which encourage and increase the participation of young professionals in the water industry in the CT Section and the Association.

Goals: 

  1. Increase the participation of young professionals in the CT AWWA.
  2. Facilitate involvement of young professionals on CT Section Committees
  3. Establish a mentoring program for young professionals with more experienced professionals.

The action plan for the CTAWWA YPC is to establish the following programs and activities for the development of young professionals in the Section.

  • Mentoring Programs
  • Career Development Awareness Programs
  • Social Activities at Section Conference
  • Local Lunch Seminars
  • Technical Tours
  • Social Events
  • Community Outreach Programs
  • Development of Student Chapter

 
Function Statement: To work with other committees, lending support to accomplish section goals, and in turn, allowing young professionals to learn from their wealth of experience.

The functions of the YPC are to
:

  1. Develop educational and professional activities that cater to the needs of the CT AWWA, specifically young professionals.
  2. Execute established career development programs.
  3. Integrate young professionals into the fellowship of the section by recognizing and utilizing their talents.
  4. Establish and implement an action plan for the YPS
  5. Develop partnerships with other committees such as:
  • Education
  • Membership
  • Water for People
  • Communications
